The duration of a condition is variable. Both the situation and the particular condition that has been caught, are factors. Some conditions never heal without a cure being found or applied by a character that has the appropriate skill or ability.
Disease: Foul Malady
I feel sick. I seem to have been infected by some sort of disease. My
vision is cloudy (-1 vision), my body is tired and my muscles ache (-5 attack,
-5 'normal' defense.) Adventurer’s Report that this is a ‘minor’ disease and
cures itself over time. For the shortest duration possible, victims should eat
and sleep regularly. GMs Note: The duration of a disease is variable by
situation and by which disease has been caught. Some diseases never heal
without a cure being found or applied by a character with a 'Cure Disease'
skill or ability.
Disease: Scarecrow Sickness
The attack of a Scarecrow has infected me! My body shivers
and a feverish pain consumes me. It is said that the sickness fades away in
time, although I do not know if this is true. Sages claim that Scarecrow Sickness
is not a true disease at all, but more a magical malady that cannot be driven
from the body until it is ready to leave. (-5 Max Health, -10 Attack, -2 Damage
Range)
I am really drunk. Can you tell? Got to admit though … I like it. (GM note: Intense inebriation has a negative effect on almost every aspect of your character, bar a couple. However, it does grant a brief period of extended heath, which tends to disappear very suddenly as you sober up. If you have taken damage below the level of your real health, when you sober up you may realize you are actually … dead.) Player’s note: observed effects are: -1 vision, -2 movement, +5 to max health, -15 attack, -15 to all defenses, -2 appearance, -2 dexterity, +1 wisdom, -1 intelligence. Lasted 1 turn. No message indicated when it went away, but the character did sleep some time during the turn it disappeared. Update (9 April 2005): At the end of the turn the condition goes away, a message reads, ‘The effects of alcohol have now worn off.’)
I am exshtremeley verily drunk. I could be drunker, I think. But not by mush. (GMs Note: intense inebriation has a negative effect on almost every aspect of your character, bar a couple. However, it does grant a brief period of extended health, which tends to disappear very suddenly as you sober up. If you have taken damage below the level of your real health, when you sober up you may realize you are actually... dead.) Players Note: observed effects are: -2 vision, -3 movement, +10 to max health, -30 attack, -30 to all defenses, -4 appearance, -1 willpower, -4 dexterity, +2 wisdom, -3 intelligence.
Player’s Note: This condition, when listed under conditions, has no notes of its own. To date, it is generated when a character receives the Jing-Luo acupuncture procedure. While in effect, it grants +2 to strength. On its initial investigation, it appears to last one turn beyond the turn it was instilled.
This is a journey ticket that grants you a seat on a wagon heading out of shortly. When you buy a wagon journey you will be given a wagon ticket. At the beginning of the FOLLOWING turn, as long as you have the wagon ticket and are still standing on the wagon square, you will take an 'instant' wagon journey to the destination station, appearing there on phase 1. You can therefore write orders on the basis that you will be in the new location. If you are not standing on the station square at the beginning of the following turn the ticket will expire and no journey will take place. Player’s Note: Presumably, this condition is gained from issuing the ‘L 4 0’ order at a Wagon Station and will go away on the following turn once the journey is complete.
Mortification is a hideous curse that resembles some sort of awful disease, but which is actually magically created. A mortified person or creature finds himself or herself covered in a sickly green mold that spreads steadily over their body. They stink like the worst sewage and find that the fungus impedes movement and reactions. Mortification gets steadily worse until, eventually, it kills the poor person inflicted. The number in brackets shows the level of Mortification a person has after it, starting at '1' and escalating until their demise. The only known way to cure mortification is to contact a Necromancer who may know the spell to do so. The most common cause of the disease is via a monster's attack. Monsters who carry the disease are greatly feared. It is possible to be Mortified multiple times too... an awful thought!
Mortification (1): -20 attack, -20 normal defense, -3 appearance, -5 max health
Mortification (2): -10 normal defense, -2 appearance, -5 max health (these are in addition to the above penalties)
I have been petrified by a Gorgon's stare. The only way I can be free from this curse is to pray to the Gods of Light for salvation. (W to pray) Player’s Note: Snakekin of Taras can cause this condition as well. What triggers petrification is unknown. One character was observed replying to a Snakekin of Taras’ attack against a character he was over watching. The character missed. Then the character received the message I have been petrified by Snakekin of Taras. Other than this, the character was hit and damaged by the Snakekin on the previous phase, perhaps the petrification affect is delayed a phase after the creature does damage? No. Another character was observed and never was hit by a Snakekin of Taras. Similiarly, that character was replying to a overwatch attack when she was petrified. But, in both case, it wasn’t the first such overwatch reply attack, nor was it the first of any such reply attacks. Perhaps there is simply a percent chance of becoming petrified when attacking a Snakekin of Taras? Perhaps proximity to the Snakekin is a mitigating factor? After becoming petrified and the characters issued succeeding 'A 0 0' orders, the characters received the message, 'I cannot perform this order. I am petrified!' Presumable, petrification prevents certain orders. To date, petrification prevents A, P, and M orders. It doesn't prevent reply attacks or reply attack due to overwatching other characters. It doesn’t prevent W or L orders. Prayer orders appear to be one way to be cured of the condition. As it turned out, one of the two character first encountering Snakekin of Taras happened to pray at the end of the turn and was cure of his condition with the following message, 'I can feel my body turn to stone by the Gorgon's deadly gaze. I do not fear this as I am pious in my duty to the gods of light. By their wisdom I know that my prayers will be answered. (Petrification removed).' It is unknown if prayer is an automatic cure or if there is only a percent change of being cured with each prayer. There are no observable statistical changes. It appears petrification only prevents certain orders.
I feel sick. I have been
poisoned and the effects of it are burning in my blood. My head is dizzy and it
is hard to concentrate...I feel slightly nauseous all the time...stomach cramps
occasionally assail me. I recognise the symptoms. I've heard of this...a poison
known as 'Murk'. I don't think it's fatal...but it may take quite some time to
fade from my system. Until then, I'm a sickly wreck! (Player’s note: The
enchanter scroll, Ghastly Cloud of Death, inflicts this condition. The scroll
inflicts 3 points of damage upon those in the area of effect. 5 points of
damage to the target character. The conditions inflicts a –10 to attack.
Recently, it was found that traps on chests in Kyrian dungeons can inflict this
condition. The trap inflicted 9 points of damage and resulted in the following
conditional effects: -1 vision, -20 attack, -10 normal & mental defense.
More recently, it was found that blood imps can inflict this condition with
their spittle. In the case reported only 3 points of damage was inflicted and
the greater detrimental effects of the murk were experienced.)
I have been affected by
a poison, which has slowed my motor functions in an attempt to stop me moving.
Though this has partially worn off, I feel very ill, slow and am having great
difficulty moving. I will no doubt recover eventually, if I live. (Player’s
Note: Appears to cause the follow penalties: -1 vision, -6 move rate, -20
attack, -40 normal defense, -10 fire defense, +5 cold defense, -10 mental
defense, -5 dexterity, and –2 strength.)

My body has been covered with mildly acidic goo. Wiping at it seems to do no good. While in this state, manipulating objects is going to be tough. Note: Appears to go away by itself, but the time for this may be random. This first observable case disappeared at the end of the following turn it was inflicted. It was inflicted by a Baby Goo Dragon. It does appear to affect statistics, but prevents some complex operations. When an attempt was made to use a healing ointment, this condition was reported as the cause for the failure. (Example: ‘X 30 0’ ‘I cannot do this as my hands are covered in sticky goo.’) Attack actions still occurred normally.
I feel incredibly lethargic and sleepy. My eyes will barely stay open. My muscles feel heavy and drag me down. (Player’s Note: Appears to cause the following pnetalties: -1 move rate, -5 attack, -5 all defenses, -1 willpower. First observed as the results of an attack from a Deadly Sin named Pride in the Pits of Poldoon Level 4 sub-level known as Pride’s Hollow.)
I am sneezing uncontrollably. This is impeding my performance in all sorts of ways. (Player’s Note: Appears to cause the following penalties: -1 dexterity, -10 attack, -10 all defenses)
Poison is in my eyes: it is burning, though causing more pain that real damage. I cannot see very much, though! GM note: venom blindness greatly reduces attack, defence, vision and dexterity. (Player’s Note: Appears to cause the following penalties: -1 appearance, -20 attack, -20 all defenses)
